• timing is everything

“in his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” proverbs 16:9 “timing is everything”…i have to believe it. i want to believe it. really it’s the most tangible thing to hold onto sometimes, a cliche saying that almost everyone uses, based on faith or not. we have continued to pursue adoption through foster care and recently have really felt that it is the calling for our family. we have always wanted to do this and have always desired to adopt but this calling feels so much stronger and the urgency is compelling. we have gotten a few calls and for whatever reason, “the timing just…

  • craft time

today i attended a craft meet up hosted by this awesome diy company based out of ny – KOLLABORA and TEXAS STYLE COUNCIL -just part of the SXSW madness. well no badge or anything exciting and hipsterish like that, well no crowds or music or roaming the city. just some girls in a boutique crafting! sounds amazing, right? it was. as a bonus, i got to share the heart of noonday with many of them and will hopefully build some blog relationships! double bonus, i got to make these awesome bracelets.

  • storytelling

when i started working with Noonday Collection a few months ago, i thought it would be a fun job on the side, a way to meet people and of course an outlet to advocate for causes around the world that mean so much to me. i did not realize the depth of care and concern i would develop for our artisans that pour their hearts into making beautiful things! i also didn’t realize that i would stay up at night dreaming about adoption, wondering how long our wait will be, aching to meet our children, etc. adoption isn’t a new desire on our hearts, but the urgency is and i…

  • meeting angels

a friend asked the other day that popular question, “if you could hang out with anyone not living anymore who would it be?” i instantly thought of mother teresa. i have always admired her and her service was a huge influence on my career choice.“give your hands to serve and your hearts to love.” mother teresa. it’s so simple, really, and isn’t that why we are here? i would have loved meeting her and walking through the slums of india with her, touching lepers and learning from her completely selfless heart. the next person was someone who owns a very special part of my heart. a former patient of mine,…

  • counting my blessings

my soul crumbles when i look into gracie’s eyes, my heart absolutely melts at her smile, and the sound of her laugh is the most joyous sound i could imagine. i am so in love with her. i am beyond thankful for the blessing of having the chance to be her mother. i just snuck into her room to give her an extra kiss while she is sound asleep and am counting my blessings so i thought i would put it in writing 🙂

  • never a dull moment

simple errands like grocery shopping have turned into strategic missions…as long as this busy toddler is involved! i’m an expert at knowing which store has what type of cart, and what type of cart will restrain the busy person. JACKPOT, my sister and i stumbled across this awesome car/cart so this was obviously going to be our new go to spot for groceries. what toddler would not want to ride (quietly and still) in this sweet ride. WELL, fast forward to aisle 3 and gracie was all of a sudden on the floor. yep, she houdini’d out of the seatbelt, crawled through the windshield and landed on the floor, ALL…
