find out your niche
I read this today and it made me stop in my tracks…“God made you for an end. Find out what that end is; find out your niche, and fill it. If it be ever so little, if it is only to be a hewer of wood and a drawer of water, do something in this great battle for God and truth.” Charles SpurgeonYes, I know that I was created uniquely for a purpose but sometimes that truth gets lost in day to day life. I used to rely on my profession as my identity and as I have become a mother and stepped back from my job a little bit, it’s…

my first red carpet event
my uber talented sister, meredith, is a participant and in the running for an award (might i add) in this year’s Austin Fashion Week. i was able to get out for her showcase event and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. she partnered with urban betty salon and hosted a fabulous runway show where beautiful dolled up models strutted their stuff in lizabeth & leann creations. the night was so much fun, lots of people came out to support her and i was beaming with pride for my sister. the thing i love the most about her talent is that she is completely self taught. she didn’t go to school for fashion design or take any sewing…

blessings
lately i have felt very overwhelmed…and then i realized that it was not an anxious or stressed overwhelmed, but a thankful overwhelmed. i am overwhelmed by my blessings. every time i look at my sweet gracie, i am reminded of God’s absolute perfection. i am reminded of His generosity when i think about my supportive family and friends. i am reminded of His goodness when i see jed as a daddy and wonderful husband. i am reminded of His mercy when i step through those hospital doors. i am reminded of His grace when i recognize my forgiven sins. i am beyond thankful and beyond blessed. i like this overwhelming…

“Happiness is a Pair of Shorts”
The grandfather of one of my sweet patients who lost his battle with cancer called me the other day. He had an encouraging spark in his voice. He called to tell me about a book that was dedicated to his grandson and he had a copy for me. I CAN NOT wait to read this book and honor that amazing kid and all those that are forced into that terrible fight. http://www.happinessisapairofshorts.com These past 12 weeks have been a joyfully difficult transition to motherhood and I am now trying to emotionally switch gears in preparation of returning to work…Walking into that battlefield will take an extra dose of courage now…

belly pictures
my dear friend, claudia, offered to take some maternity pictures for me. i’m so excited about the way these turned out, we had a really fun time taking them on south congress and jed and i were able to just be us and hang out while she got some great shots. i hope the joy expressed in these photos cancels out the complaining i’ve done about backaches, sore feet, etc!!!

miracle!
we decided to do the optional 3D ultrasound last week and it was such a neat experience. here’s our little bitty, sucking her thumb already. i didn’t really know what to expect but when i first saw her face, i felt like i’ve been staring at her in those precious eyes for the past 7 months. it just made things a little more real to see her in detail. we are beyond excited to meet this little girl face to face and tell her how much we love her and how much she has been prayed for…
