“we” is the new “me”

that pretty much sums up motherhood!

and i wouldn’t have it any other way, although at times, it highlights my need to care for myself as an individual so i can bring my best to “we.” i look at my mom in amazement knowing what i know now, about how hard this mothering gig is. how it demands selflessness, patience, perseverance, balance, creativity…and so much more. i admire the positivity she exudes about raising three girls and now about her role as grandma. i have never heard her complain about her years raising us and i know for a fact that she didn’t have all the luxuries or support networks us mothers have these days. hats off to my momma and a huge thank you for teaching me so much about loving my babies well.

motherhood, for the most part, is just hilarious. it’s a daily balancing act of chaos. it’s like a really intense marathon every day. the type that leaves you out of breath and your legs wobbly from exhaustion. but gives you an intense joy from accomplishment. (note, i have never participated in a marathon, or anything closely resembling one!) and some days it feels like one of those weird dreams where you can’t get to the place you need to be, your legs won’t work and all you want to do is run, but it never happens. you know the dream i’m talking about, right? or how about the one where you can. not. dial. the. right. number. for the life of you! some days feel like you’re just fumbling along and all you can do is laugh so you don’t ugly cry in front of your kids. or better yet, you just lock yourself in the bathroom, alone, for two minutes to regain your composure or just enjoy a little “me” time because remember there is no longer “me” in this race, it’s “we” all. the. time!

oh but it’s such a sweet team to be on. one that always forgives. one that always lifts you up. one that is so fun to cheer on. and when you get a glimpse of victories, like seeing your tiny being shape into a really wonderful, kind, and unique human being. that is indescribable. this “we” team is the one you’ve been dreaming of joining. it’s messy and hard and humbling but the things this “we” team can accomplish will fill you up beyond measure.
